What Side Effects Are Associated with Acupuncture?

The only known side effect of acupuncture is the risk of incorrect needle placement.

Because the vast majority of acupuncture points are located around joints, it is legally required that acupuncture on animals may only be performed by licensed veterinarians.

Naturally, since a needle is a type of foreign object, there is always a theoretical risk of infection.
However, this risk is virtually nonexistent when using sterile, single-use needles.
